How Quickly Sugar Destroys Muscle Mass And Other News

Joe Wicks has been transforming bodies for years - hence his name, The Body Coach - so if there's any diet advice to listen to, it's his.
Famous for his #Leanin15 recipes, healthy meals prepared and ready to eat in just 15 minutes, Instagram #fitspo legend Joe has some diet tips you're going to want to adopt.

Diet Tips from The Body Coach

1. Balance your meals

Eat three meals a day. Two of them should be low carb, moderate fat and high protein – so think a four-egg omelette with 35g feta cheese, 4 sliced spring onions and 100g spinach.
Another breakfast favourite of his is chocolate protein pancakes with blueberries and coconut. See, sweet tooths need not despair!
(On rest days make sure all your meals stick with this ration).

2. Refuel after a workout

On training days your post-workout meal should be high in carbs and protein but lower in fat. This will help repair muscles and replenish their glycogen stores so you can go full throttle at your next workout.
Think a creamy chicken curry, (using 175g chicken breast, onion, red pepper, Thai green paste and coconut milk) served with a 135g mix of brown rice and quinoa.

3. Snack Healthy

Eat two snacks day that are protein or healthy-fats based e.g. 25g nuts, a protein shake or a boiled egg.
If you need a treat, you can still find a healthy option. Try Joe's raspberry and chocolate protein brownies, made with sweet potato, oats, dark chocolate, chocolate whey protein, eggs, raspberries and a few added extras. You can find the full recipe on his Instagram page.

4. Avoid Alcohol

It can’t be stored in the body so it has to be used as energy, which puts the breaks on fat burning. Besides, burpees on a hangover? Not a good idea.

5. Drink Water

Drink 2-4 litres of water a day. A hydrated body is more efficient at burning fat. Pass the Evian.
